Strano’s lab has been working for several years in the new field of plant nanobionics, which aims to give plants novel features by embedding them with different types of nanoparticles. Pavlo Gordiichuk, a former MIT postdoc, is the lead author of the new paper, which appears in Science Advances. After 10 seconds of charging, plants glow brightly for several minutes, and they can be recharged repeatedly. This series has really paced well going from Auren’s sheltered story to an epic romance that will change the power balance of a realm.Using specialized nanoparticles embedded in plant leaves, MIT engineers have created a light-emitting plant that can be charged by an LED. I enjoyed the heck out of this installment. So definitely get ready for some of the more traditional ‘training’ sequences. If book three was about raw power, book four is about magical control.
Things don’t slow down for Auren and Slade as they deal with the ramifications of the end of Gleam. It definitely helps to peel back his layers and get his secrets since he’s essentially spent two books getting all of Auren’s. The impacts of Auren’s actions catch up with her, but that makes the first third of this book fully Slade’s. Who knew it could get better after that power packed ending to Gleam?
